With only four weeks left in the Free Poker Network’s Summer Season, The Mayfield Tavern was buzzing with electricity as 23 Mavericks sat down for another wild night of Maverick Poker League action. The stakes? Sky-high. The leaderboard? Tighter than ever. And the chase for the championship? Absolutely wide open.

Game One was a heavyweight slugfest. Mike Baker and Scott Sutter made quick work of their tables, flexing early dominance. On the feature table, it looked like Mike Soper was about to slam the door shut, storming into heads-up play with a monstrous 5-to-1 chip lead over Drew Bovee. But then… the comeback. Bovee refused to blink, clawing back one hand at a time. Every time Soper looked ready to close it out, Bovee found salvation on the flop—or the dagger on the river. In a jaw-dropping turnaround, Bovee snatched victory and left the room buzzing.

Game Two reset the deck and brought in three brand-new winners: Amber Soper, Rick Hoag, and Sylvia Pinson. Suddenly, six different Mavericks were within striking distance heading into the final game. It was anyone’s night to steal.

Game Three? Pure chaos. Rick Hoag, riding high, was the first to crash. Sylvia “The Silent Assassin” Pinson, steady all evening, bowed out mid-pack, leaving the door wide open. Cliff Jones stormed through his table like a man on a mission, forcing a tie at the top with Sylvia. But when the dust settled and the tiebreaker was called, it was The Silent Assassin who struck her mark—claiming her first-ever nightly win! The room erupted. Cliff earned the silver, Mike Baker secured a hard-fought third, and Sylvia walked away with history.

And now… the plot thickens. Just three weeks remain—one of them a double-points showdown. At the top of the mountain sits Amber Soper, but only by a single point over Drew Bovee. Right behind them? Scott Sutter, Jim Elwart, and Mike Soper, all lurking within 100 points.

As Yogi Berra said: “It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.” And for this Summer Season, the finish line promises fireworks. Buckle up, Mavericks—because the chase for the crown is about to hit all gas, no brakes. ️ Next Week on Maverick Poker League:
The race for the Summer Season crown tightens with every hand, and the pressure is reaching a boiling point. Can Amber Soper hold onto her razor-thin lead? Will Drew Bovee ride his comeback magic to the top? Or will a dark horse like Cliff Jones or The Silent Assassin strike again and shake up the standings?

With just three weeks left—and a double-points night looming—the margin for error is gone, the tension is rising, and every chip counts.

Don’t miss it, Mavericks. The felt will be on fire.
