After a brief hiatus for the Free Poker Network's "Step in the Ring" tournaments in Las Vegas, the Maverick Poker League returned with fierce competition and high stakes. Fourteen dedicated Mavericks gathered to challenge the reigning May 21st champion, Lewis Iler, but it was clear from the outset that Iler wasn’t going to relinquish his title without a fight.

A new face joined the league this week, Leo McGuckin, brought in by Scott Sutter. McGuckin made an immediate impact, winning his table in the first game. Candace Sutter also claimed victory at her table, while Iler remained in close contention, finishing second in the first game.

As the night progressed, the competition only intensified. Strong finishes in the second game resulted in a two-way tie for the overall lead between Iler and McGuckin. Candace Sutter and Steve Cooper were close behind, ready to capitalize if either of the leaders faltered.

In a dramatic turn of events during game three, Leo McGuckin was the first to be felted, followed by Steve Cooper. Candace Sutter struggled to gain momentum, leaving the path clear for Iler to secure the overall nightly win. With his consistent performance and strategic play, Lewis Iler achieved a repeat victory, further solidifying his dominance in the league.

The Maverick Poker League will resume play next Tuesday, June 11th, at 6 PM at The Mayfield Tavern. As the competition heats up, each game promises more excitement and opportunities for players to showcase their skills. Join us for another thrilling night of poker action!

See you then!
